about

After you will purchase this album I will receive a message on my mailbox. I will immediately send you a link for downloading a video version of Mysterium Paschale. It's really worth to see this concert with all adjustments i made like animation with Coptic, Syriac, Armenian and Byzantine miniatures from medieval manuscripts; paintings of northern Renaissance; samples of musical scores; and with subtitles.

Mysterium Paschale is the most outstanding and well-developed project of the Chronos ensemble. This ecumenical program consists of musical masterpieces from middle ages till modern times. Chronos ensemble performed the chants of Ars Antiqua, Syrian and Byzantine music; Old Russian dissonant polyphony of XVI-XVII-th centuries and the masterpieces of Russian baroque music composed during the reign of Tsar Peter the Great. Also you will hear the masterpieces by classical composers like C. Monteverdi, J.S. Bach and Charles Tournemire.

The Chronos ensemble teem accepted two instrumentalists: Theodor Stroganov - the best organist in Russia and Pavel Pravin - a percussionist and multi instrumentalist on winds.

The program is very conceptual, divided in three parts. It tells the whole story of mankind. The first part is about creation and original sin, dedicated to God the Father. The second part is about Redemption, It tells the story of Jesus. The climax of a whole concert is a Resurrection of Christ. The third part is about the Holy Spirit and the adoption to once-lost God the Father.

The concert starts with Bansuri improvisation followed by the hymn be Hildegard von Bingen. Then sounds the organ: Theodor Stroganov performed his own composition. The first part of programm ends with Russain Baroque chant of the Prodigal Son and Percussion improvisation. The second part starts with music by Alexander Manotskov who is also a singer and a member of Chronos ensemble. Then sounds the Duduk improvisation followed by Syrian Aramaic chants of crucifixion performed by Alisa Ten and Evgenii Skurat. The climax of the concert starts with a masterpiece by Charles Tournemire performed by Theodor Stroganov.
