Thousand years of sacred music (life)

by Evgeny Skurat - Chronos ensemble

/
1.
The angel of God descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone (from the tomb) and sat upon it. The angel responded then and asked the women, whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
2.
Glorious King, true light and splendor, Almighty God, Lord, if it pleases you, Be a faithful help to my companion, For I have not seen him since the nigh came on, And soon it will be dawn. Fair friend, in song I call you; Sleep no more, for I hear the bird sing, Which I see seeking the day in the woods, And I fear that the jealous one will attack you; And soon it will be dawn. Fair friend, since I left you I have not slept or risen from my knees, But I have prayed the God, the son of Holy Mary, Might return you to me in loyal friendship; And soon it will be dawn.
3.
Let the Jews now explain how the soldiers guarding the grave have lost the King and why they were not watching over the rock of justice at the site of the grave. Let them either give the buried one back or worship the resurrected one, and say with us, (Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him - Rom. 6:9)
4.
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen...
5.
Triplum: Hail, most blessed city, divinity, happy in eternal joy, dwelling of justice, most dear lily, noble mother! Beg the Creator to watch over those who are redeemed by His blood, that we may, while living, sing a hymn to Christ: zima (celestial leaven). Motetus: Hail, Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of why womb, amen. Entreat your most sweet son on behalf of us sinners, O blessed Mary! Tenor: Ave maris stella (Hail, o star of the seas)
6.
Blessed city of Jerusalem, called "vision of peace", built in heaven out of living stone and crowned by the angels like a bride for her consort. Her gates glitter with pearls set on the wide open doors where by virtue of their merits are introduced all, who in the name of Christ, are oppressed in the world.
7.
8.
Have mercy, have mercy… The man whom you redeemed upon the cross with your precious blood, merciful Lord Jesus, grant him rest.
9.
Do not weep for me, Mother, as you see in a tomb the Son whom you conceived in your womb without seed; for I shall arise and be glorified, and, everlastingly as God, I shall exalt in glory those who with faith and love magnify you.
10.
11.
Lo, it was dark and very early in the morning. Why standest thou by the tomb, O Mary, harboring much darkness in thy mind, wherein thou askest: Where hath Jesus been laid? But behold the disciples who have come running together, and how they have discovered the resurrection by the grave-clothes and the winding sheet, and remembered the Scriptures concerning them! And we, believing with them and through them, hymn Thee, Christ the Bestower of life.

Theotokos Virgin, rejoice, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls.

I will remember the deeds of the Lord. Yeas, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds. (Psalm 77: 11-12) Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring the offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his hollines; Tremble before him all the earth. (Psalm 96: 7-9)
