about

Track 3 & 11 (GIM 1099). Stefan Belyaev conducted the choir of the Tsar's singers in the early 18th century. He composed the polyphonic transcription of the Znamenny chant mainly. The disc contains "Only-Begotten Son" and "Axion estin" from the liturgy in the first Tone. Belyaev himself composed melodies in the style of Znamenny chant for his liturgical cycles in the eight Tones. The score of the liturgy in the first Tone was compiled by the musicologist Vladimir Protopopov. The music of the Small litany is from GIM 421.

lyrics

Both now and ever... Only-Begotten Son and Word of God, Thou Who art immortal, and didst deign for our salvation to become incarnate of the holy Theotokos and Ever-virgin Mary, without change becoming man, and Who wast crucified, O Christ God, trampling down death by death: Thou Who art one of the Holy Trinity, glorified together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, save us.
Priest: Again and again… (The same Small Litany like in previous track)
Priest: For a good God art Thou, and the Lover of mankind, and unto Thee do we send up glory: to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Choir: Amen.
