about

Track 6 & 10. In the Greek liturgy, the chanting of the Trisagion is one of the most solemn and extensive moments of worship. Following the Byzantine tradition, we decided to record four different compositions. In the second Trisagion the tenor's melody resembles the Kiev version of the Znamenny chant (GIM 657); all the other compositions, although they belong to the Kiev Liturgy (GIM 421), can have a composed melody in the tenor. The first Trisagion and the Eucharistic Canon (Track 10) are placed in GIM 421 separately from the "Kiev Liturgy", and written in a different handwriting. In both compositions bright melodic fragments are found in the upper voice, which were lovingly borrowed by the author from the Strochnoy polyphony of the past century.

lyrics

Priest, then the choir: O Lord, save the pious and hearken unto us.
Holy God, Holy mighty, Holy Immortal have mercy on us (x3).
Glory... Both now, and ever... Holy Immortal have mercy on us.
Holy God, Holy mighty, Holy Immortal have mercy on us.
